Leaves from History — WIAA Club's programme for August 1966 :: rare ephemera

First incorporated in September 1947, the W.I.A.A. Club was originally housed in the palatial bungalow of the Sassoon family — Il Palazzo — in Malabar Hill. The initial idea for the Club House was conceived by a group of members of the Western India Automobile Association. The club functioned in the premises of the bungalow until the late 1960s, following which the bungalow was redeveloped into the Il Palazzo residential tower and the adjoining new premises of the W.I.A.A. Club which was rechristened as the Malabar Hill Club.

We are now pleased to offer an extremely rare and interesting piece of ephemera of the original W.I.A.A. Club before it was relocated to the new premises as the Malabar Hill Club. This programme of August 1966 was sent to the members of the club by post and it includes all the original postage marks. This particular programme features announcements of the social dance events at the club — A Special Morning Dance for Adults & Teenagers featuring the great trombonist Maurice Concessio, and the evening Cocktail Dance featuring the legendary accordionist Goody Seervai. Also of interest is a page featuring the etiquette list with a strict dress-code for the dance floor authorised by the Honorary Secretary of the club Mr. P. H. Nariman. All the remaining pages feature several vintage advertisements of the time.

Images of all the pages of this unique rarity are attached herewith for the perusal of those interested.
