Anandamayee — The Universal Mother :: Illustrated Centenary First Edition

In memory of the revered saint Anandamayee Ma, we are pleased to offer a highly rare and hard-to-find, illustrated First Edition of her biography that was published on the occasion of her birth centenary in 1995.

The text in this book was originally written in Bengali by Dr. Buddhadev Bhattacharya and was translated into English by Asim Chatterjee. In addition to the absorbing text that traces the entire journey of Anandamayee Ma's life, this book is particularly unique for the numerous colour paintings by the artist Ratan Acharya that were specially commissioned for this publication. These include some very interesting paintings of legendary Indian performing artists such as MS Subbulakshmi & Uday Shankar, and leaders such as Mahatma GandhiIndira Gandhi, the Raja of Suket et al. Also included in this book are numerous photographs of Anandamayee Ma from all stages of her life.

The dust jacket of this book was designed by the acclaimed postage stamp designer C. R. Pakrashi. The original bookmark featuring a blue-tinted photograph of Anandamayee Ma is also completely intact.
