Digital empowerment outreach during the Covid-19 pandemic
With the unfolding of the Covid-19 pandemic over the last few months, our society has been confronted with unprecedented socio-economic disruptions and medical challenges. During these daunting monsoon months, in our own small way, we have been involved in the distribution of rain-gear, footwear & other essentials amongst some of the deprived communities in the rural areas on the outskirts of Mumbai.
The relevance of the digital medium has asserted itself with compelling urgency during this crisis. We are now involved in a small initiative to distribute working electronic devices in rural areas with a view towards making a small difference.
Many users upgrade their electronic devices while their old gadgets are still in working condition. These include mobile phones, tablets, laptops, computer accessories (hard disks, pen drives, webcams, monitors, keyboards, mice, SMPS, motherboards & processors, Wi-Fi receivers, internet routers, UPS) etc.
Our old devices in working condition could mean the world to those who are deprived of these facilities.
For those inclined towards donating their old but functional devices, we shall arrange for their collection and facilitate their distribution to the underprivileged. We request donors to ascertain that all the data on the device they wish to donate is completely erased and formatted to avoid any mishap. Please refrain from giving out non-working and broken devices.
Those interested may please get in touch on kcbpdigitalinitiative@gmail.com
With best wishes towards a healthy future to all our readers.
