Sir Pherozeshah Mehta (1921) :: rare antiquarian First Editions

Widely renowned as the 'lion of Bombay' and as the 'uncrowned king of Bombay', Sir Pherozeshah Mehta was the first Parsi barrister to be called to the Bar from Lincoln's Inn in London in 1868. He was one of the founders of the Bombay Presidency Association in 1885 along with Badruddin Tyabji and Justice K. T. Telang. He was the Municipal Commissioner of the Bombay Municipality in 1873 and served as its president for four terms. Mehta was one of the founding fathers of the Indian National Congress. In 1910, he was instrumental in starting The Bombay Chronicle newspaper.

We are now pleased to offer an extremely rare and hard-to-find First Edition of his biography. First published in Bombay in 1921, this comprehensive political biography was authored by H. P. Mody in two volumes. The foreword in the first volume was contributed by Aga Khan. The first volume of this rare set also contains a handwritten gift inscription by the author.

Images of the covers, the original deckled-edged pages, the table of contents of both the volumes, and numerous other images of these precious rarities are attached herewith for the perusal of those interested.
