Shri Jain Stuti (1924) :: rare First Edition

For bibliophiles and for those interested in Jainism, we are pleased to offer one of the most uniquely rare First Editions of Jain literature that was published for private distribution by a Jain family.

First published in 1924 in Mumbai, Shri Jain Stuti was published as a single book in four parts by Bhaichand Kasturchand Jhaveri of Mumbai. This book was published in a limited quantity for private distribution on the occasion of the wedding of Gulabchand Jhaveri.

The first three parts of this book contain a large number of Jain hymns (stutis, stotras, stavans and sajjays) along with their gist in Gujarati. The names of the 24 tirthankaras of the past, the present and the future time cycles of Jainism, the names of the 11 ganadharas of Bhagwan Mahavir and their stavan, the names of the 63 salaka-purusas and their stavan, the names of the 20 viharman jinas and their stavan, the names of the 16 mahasatis and their chhand, and the 14 auspicious dreams are also included in the first part. The fourth part features biographical sketches of each of the 24 tirthankaras of the present time cycle of Jain cosmology.

This rare book was lavishly printed on high-quality glossy pages. Each page of this book was adorned with decorative borders of a lustrous golden hue. It also includes two vintage photographs of the sacred hill of Shatrunjaya (images attached).

Many images, including the complete table of contents of all the four parts, are attached herewith for the perusal of those interested.
