Adhyatma Kalpadrum (1909) :: rare First Edition

For bibliophiles and for those interested in Jainism, we are pleased to offer an extremely rare First Edition of Adhyatma Kalpadrum in Gujarati. First published in 1909, this rare book delves into one of the most revered texts of the Jain faith. Originally written in Sanskrit by the great Jain acharya Shri Munisundarsuriji, the sixteen chapters of  Adhyatma Kalpadrum comprise of 278 verses.

In this rare First Edition, the entire scripture was expounded in Gujarati by Motichand Girdharlal Kapadia, a remarkable Jain scholar who was a solicitor in the High Court of Bombay in the early twentieth century. The publication of this First Edition was limited to 1000 copies only.

Condition: Pre-owned. Fair+ — Good — Restored. All the pages are intact, clean and unmarked. Binding tight and firm. Minor, natural yellowing/foxing of some pages owing to age and use. Several pages have been carefully restored/fortified; please refer to the last three sample images.
Inscription: The name of the original owner is handwritten on the upper margin of the title page; image attached.
Stamp: The stamp of one of the leading Jain booksellers based in Pydhonie — Sha Meghji Hirji & Co. — who dealt primarily in Jain literature in the early 20th century is present on the rear (blank) side of the frontispiece; image attached.
