Chalo Rasoda-ma by Malti Dalal (1975) :: rare First Edition

For culinary enthusiasts, we are pleased to offer an incredibly rare First Edition of arguably the finest cookbook ever written in the Gujarati language — Chalo Rasoda-ma by Malti Dalal.

First published in 1975, this encyclopaedic book featured around 1300 recipes of all kinds of mouth-watering preparations: from beverages, vegetables and whole-grain recipes to pickles and mouth fresheners! A special chapter consists of recipes utilizing leftover food from the night before. The recipes in this book reflect the author's deep, personal experience making them a joy to read and follow.

In addition to the treasure trove of recipes, what made this book truly unique was the author's compassionate guiding touch with individual chapters on how to set up and arrange the kitchen, the different types of stoves and their maintenance, the efficient methods of storing grain & spices, and several other practical considerations.

This rare First Edition was published privately by Mr Lalji Desai, who was the Chairman of Parag Chemical Agencies in Mumbai. It was enriched with a foreword by Krishnashankar Shastri, the great Pushti Margi saint who was revered as Pujya Dadaji. The introduction of this book was written by the acclaimed Gujarati playwright Chandravadan Mehta.
