V. Shantaram :: rare original posters

For collectors of rare memorabilia of Indian cinema, we are pleased to offer a selection of precious vintage posters of the great auteur V. Shantaram's memorable films.

The first item is an extremely rare original poster of Dr. Kotnis Ki Amar Kahani, one of the most important films released before independence in 1946; this rare poster was designed by the great artist S. M. Pandit. The second item is another highly rare poster of his film Apna Desh, which was released in 1949 and was set against the backdrop of Partition. The third rare poster is of his colour film Geet Gaaya Pattharonne, which marked the debut of Rajashree & Jeetendra in 1964,  and also featured a playback song by the legendary classical vocalist Kishori Amonkar.

Indian Aviation and JRD Tata :: highly rare and out-of-print

For bibliophiles and collectors of rare books on Indian aviation, we are pleased to offer a highly rare and out-of-print First Edition on the history of civil aviation in India and the role of the legendary J. R. D. Tata in its development from the late 1920s until the late 1970s. The history of commercial air transport in India began with the pioneering efforts of the House of Tatas. This book also delves into the history of Indian aviation during and after the Second World War as well as the era of nationalisation of airlines in India.

A number of international aviation leaders wrote about their views and impressions of J. R. D. Tata for this book. These include Sir Frederick Tymms, the first Director of Civil Aviation in India; Sir William Hildred, the first Director General of IATAWilliam Seawell, chairman of Pan Am; Air Chief Marshal P. C. Lal et al.

First published in 1978, this book was not reprinted. Being the first book of its kind on the pioneering development of Indian aviation, it is highly rare and hard-to-find, especially in such excellent condition as the one we are offering.
