Newstrack video magazine :: 11 rare archival tapes

Sterndale's Mammalia of India by Frank Finn :: rare 1929 edition

The mammals of India were first explored systematically by the British. One of the pioneers in this realm was the great British naturalist Robert Armitage Sterndale [1839 – 1902] who published the Natural History of the Mammalia of India and Ceylon in the year 1884. This book was remarkabe for its scientific detail and technical rigour.

Many years after Sterndale's demise in 1902, another great British naturalist — Frank Finn — took it upon himself to revise, update, and condense the work of Sterndale into a far more accessible work for the general nature enthusiast. In the year 1929, Frank Finn's efforts culminated in the publication of "A New and Abridged Edition, thoroughly revised and with an Appendix on the Reptilia".
