Leonardo da Vinci Quincentenary (1952) :: rare and out-of-print

Published to commemorate the 500th birth anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci in the year 1952, this unique volume opens with a special essay on the great artist by Homi J. Bhabha

This rare volume is also significant for those interested in the city of Mumbai as it includes the earliest critique and architectural analysis of the Jehangir Art Gallery  in South Mumbai along with early photographs and an architectural drawing. Other highlights of this volume include insightful essays on Pallava Sculpture by Dr. P. V. Pathy and on Kalighat Painting by the great art historian W. G. Archer. This rare volume also includes the complete text of the speeches delivered by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on the occasion of the inauguration of the National Art Treasures Fund in the year 1952.
